Gov. Christine Todd Whitman Endorses John Anderson for Congress
August 2, 2006
Former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman today announced her endorsement of John Anderson for Congress.
“John Anderson clearly understands core Republican values and the need to return the party to its roots better than anyone in this race,” said Governor Whitman in her endorsement. She added, “John has the leadership and vision to bring a united voice from Colorado’s 5th District to the House of Representatives”
Upon hearing of Governor Whitman’s endorsement, John Anderson expressed his deep appreciation, “Governor Whitman is a true model of courage within the Republican Party, demonstrating leadership to motivate moderate Republicans to take back the party,” remarked Anderson. “I am proud to have earned her endorsement as we reach this critical juncture in the 5th District.”
Governor Whitman agrees with Mr. Anderson that “…we must follow the wisdom of Presidents Reagan and Eisenhower and be the party of inclusion - not exclusion. Nothing compromises the Republican majority party status and influence greater than demonstrating an attitude of intolerance to those who believe differently, particularly on social issues.”
Governor Whitman served as New Jersey’s governor from 1994 until 2001 when she became Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency until 2003. She is now chair of the It’s My Party Too Political Action Committee. For more information about It’s My Party Too, visit www.mypartytoo.com.
