Key Campaign News:
Walberg Campaign Again in Legal Hot Water
August 3, 2006Tim Walberg's fringe campaign has again broken the law.
At a rally last night in Charlotte, Walberg was served with a cease-and-desist demand from an attorney representing Laurie Tennent Studio Inc., a professional photography company among whose clients is Schwarz for Congress. Walberg has illegally downloaded images and produced poor-quality reproductions of copyrighted photographs for use in his mail pieces.
The letter from attorney Dean Greenblatt demands that Walberg "cease and desist from printing, copying, distributing, or disseminating any material containing the copyrighted property . The unauthorized use of these images by the Walberg for Congress campaign is exactly the type of activity copyright law was designed to prevent."
Following are comments from Schwarz campaign manager Paul Egnatuk:
Tim Walberg is an extremist fringe candidate and has taken politics to a new low.
Time after time, Walberg has skirted the laws.
He has taken copyrighted materials and illegally reproduced them.
He has placed his propaganda on others' property without their consent.
He has violated FEC campaign laws by illegally coordinating with 527 special-interest groups.
And his campaign is founded on lies, misrepresentations and deception.
Tim is not a Republican. Real Republicans have respect for the law and have respect for one another.
We can do better.
